White House Celebrates Innovative Partnership of National Head Start Association and Lakeshore
Over the last two years, Lakeshore has been working closely with National Head Start Association to develop Recycle Your Way to STEAM—an activity-based program designed to help early learners explore science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. Together, we have introduced STEM and STEAM concepts to over 20,000 teachers, children, and their families. Our shared goal is to reach over 1,000,000 Head Start families and educators across the country.
This joint effort to introduce young children to 21st-century skills received some welcome attention this month. At the annual White House Science Fair held April 13, NHSA and Lakeshore were honored as a model public-private partnership for our work to engage children with STEM and STEAM learning. Our partnership even got us an invite to the White House Early Learning STEM Symposium held April 21. Among the more than 200 submissions received by the White House, Recycle Your Way to STEAM was specifically highlighted for its innovative approach to early education.
At Lakeshore, we are committed to finding new ways of bringing STEM and STEAM learning into the home and classroom. Along with NHSA, we are delighted to be part of a community of like-minded organizations working toward these goals.
